Firecracker

Kendra was pretty excited to complete a few puzzles on her own.  I asked her to pose for me to capture the awesome outfit she picked out and this is what I got.  Never know with this girl!

Wait a second....

 I know who that is!!

I don't sew with patterns, but prefer to make things up.  I knew I wanted an owl-themed quilt for Kara and couldn't find what I wanted, so I bought some coordinating fabric and sketched out a design and voila!  A quilt was born!

I saw these shower curtain for around $100 on Anthropologie, but not over my dead body could I spend that on a shower curtain!  C'mon people, let's get real here.  It provides privacy sure, but a Benjamin Franklin for a 10 minute shower?!  Sheesh.  So, I cut apart a white bed sheet into strips, dyed a few brown and a few lavender and left a few white.  A less than traditional neopolitan sure, but we've got enough pink going on in this house already!  Again, no pattern, just ruffled each layer and eyeballed where the layers should lay as I pinned them on to another flat white sheet.  I attached the ruffles and just like that, the bathroom went from boring to kinda fabulous.  I've got a thing for ruffles, I admit it!
Needed a little wall art, so my friend Photoshop and I set to work.  A little clipart crown here, changing up some fonts there and I love it.  I LOVE to create and see my handiwork around my house.  Sure it takes more time to make stuff on my own, but it's cheaper and gives me a sense of pride when I see what I've come up with.
 Kara enjoying her owl friends.
Big sockless girl loves sitting up on her own--for about 10 seconds and then falls over on her face.  Love that happy smile!!

Gridley Hometown Parade of Lights

It was a REALLY cold night!  Like, 35 degrees out, that is cold in CA people!
 Goofball!
 Kendra and her bff, Bree

 Warm daddy snuggles
Trina and Rylee, thought it was funny that Trina and I had the same thought on the headgear!
Love seeing the Mexican dancers in our parades!  They do an awesome job!
Free train rides afterward!  The kids look forward to this every year!
And just a cute little snack we made for girl scouts.  We also had trees made of snap peas and carrots, but somehow I didn't get a picture of that.

Month 8

Kara with her 4 month old cousin, Jacob
Yep, drooly wet shirt everyday!

I couldn't resist! lol
3 big sisters and 1 little sister

Kara is 16 lbs. and crawling all over the place!  This month was hard on baby and mommy as Kara broke through 4 teeth!  2 in 24 hrs and the other two over the next week.  Poor little thing gets bright red cheeks when she's teething and is miserable unless being held.  Her sore gums wake her up at night and she wants to nurse a little more at nighttime.  We are both tired and cranky!  When her teeth are not bothering her, she is very happy and playful.  She loves to eat Gerber puffs, yogurt melts, Cheerios, diced pears, cooked peas, diced bananas, toast, and crackers.  She is a really good eater and transitions from breast to bottle nicely.

Baby Model for Christmas Collection

Trina wanted some pictures of baby bloomers for her online boutique, so I set to work with Kara and we gave her the pics.  The bloomers all sold out that same day!
